It’s time for an update on which local restaurants received passing grades from the health department, and which ones have room for improvement. If you’ve ever worked in a restaurant you will understand how we should be aware of the restaurants on these sorts of lists, but also exercise some patience and forgiveness for minor violations. It’s a tough business!

The Indian River County schools superintendent is considering rezoning some of the schools. Some of them are over capacity and some are under capacity, so redrawing some lines on a map might be an easy fix.

A Vero Beach man is in hot water in Arkansas. He pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and arson for allegedly trying to set fire to a house with seven occupants inside. He has a lengthy criminal history here in Florida.

Real estate in our neck of the woods is experiencing a seasonal slowdown. We have fared quite well compared to other parts of Florida and the US, but the seasonal slowdown is still noticeable.

Hurricane Melissa is causing serious damage in the Caribbean. It will be a while before we get a full damage assessment, but it’s already sad news for many in Jamaica and the storm isn’t finished yet.
