Cool, dry weather is on the agenda for us for the rest of this week. Some of those puddles and flooded roads should dry just in time for the trick-or-treaters this weekend.

Hurricane Melissa is hammering Jamaica right now. It has been classified as a Category 5 hurricane and there are sadly some deaths that have already been reported. This is the largest storm Jamaica has experienced.

The Brackett Library at Indian River State College is hosting a series of holiday events. They’re all FREE to the public and geared toward people of all ages. Children, adults and senior citizens can all find something to enjoy here.

Everyone in Indian River County has seen those orange headed lizards running around. They are acting like they are here to stay, and nobody seems to have a solution to keep their population down.

Good news! They may be limiting the diseases (and annoyances) caused by mosquito bites. So I guess we’ll let them hang out for a while.

“Any time a mosquito bites a lizard, it doesn’t bite a bird or a human. This could result in fewer cases of mosquito-borne disease, because birds are natural hosts of some dangerous mosquito-transmitted viruses,” stated Burkett-Cadena.”

Walking Tree Brewery and Stay Rooted Running Club are hosting a zombie run this Thursday at 6pm. Put on your best zombie costume, and finish your run at the Walking Tree tasting room for $1 off the post-run brews.

It looks like property taxes in Florida could become a thing of the past. We’ll find out next year after we vote on it. Pinch me, I might be dreaming!
