Musician Jake Owen is set to make a homecoming of sorts and perform in Vero Beach next month. He’s doing a mini-tour in Florida in support of his new album. Jake has some deep ties to Indian River County, and one specific charity here.

Treasure Coast Community Health opened a new health center to serve West Vero. The facility has everything you’d expect, an on-site pharmacy and separate waiting areas for adults and children.

Some Indian River County neighborhoods found themselves underwater after the heavy rains late last week. Some roadways were temporarily submerged and there were large puddles on some major streets. The storms ushered in some cooler weather (finally!) and we should get a reprieve from heavy storms for a while now.
For fun, here’s a video of a lady kayaking down her street in Vero Beach.

There were two pop-up comedy shows in Vero Beach on Saturday night. The organization Don’t Tell Comedy organizes comedy shows in non-traditional locations. For example, Saturday’s shows were hosted in the back room of East Coast Boba Company.
The way it works is you buy tickets to the show earlier in the week. Neither the comedians nor the locations are available at that time (other than “downtown Vero Beach”). On the day of the show, you get an email telling you where to go. You learn who is performing when they hit the stage.
My wife and I attended one of Saturday’s shows and we enjoyed it.

The airport flight expansion in Vero Beach is already causing some complaints about parking. As it turns out, when there are more flights, that means more people will be leaving their cars at the airport. Who could have guessed that would happen?

An Indian River Estates woman is accused of murdering her husband, and tampering with the evidence. Officers found her doing a load of laundry with blood soaked clothing and towels when they arrived on the scene.

This one is pretty funny. If you need a bid on a home improvement project that is WAY over your intended budget, you can get one at Insane Pricing. Their entire business model is to help people talk their significant others out of home improvement projects by providing quotes and estimates that are severely over budget. File this one away in case you need it someday.
