Snakes, snakes, snakes! Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission investigators seized a whole bunch of reptiles that shouldn’t have been here from a Vero Beach house. It makes you wonder…how many other people have reptiles like this in our area, and how many of those have escaped into the wild to reproduce?

Fort Pierce is making life a little easier for residential and commercial builders (for a while, anyway). They are extending the impact fee waiver that is already in place, which was designed to encourage new construction.

Rental prices are falling across the board. This is good news for renters, and homeowners are holding their breath to see how this might affect home values. With Tampa now leading the country in foreclosures, all eyes are on Florida markets. Luckily, we have fared well in Indian River County (so far).

After a death on a Carnival cruise ship, one of the minor siblings seems to be a person of interest. There’s not much information about how Anna Kepner died, but you know they’re onto something when those involved start pleading the fifth and refusing to talk to investigators.

The property tax reform continues to garner attention online. For some reason, a whole bunch of people who don’t live in Florida and don’t own property in Florida have strong opinions about what we should be doing with our property taxes. You can’t rule out paid influencers when these sorts of things show up online. Who would benefit from trying to stir up fake division and fake conflict in Florida? Follow the money, as per usual.

In yesterday’s conversation, Governor DeSantis put his foot down on the idea of “age-specific” property tax relief. It was suggested that some people were pushing for property tax relief ONLY for seniors, and the governor said that’s a “non-starter.”

There’s another marijuana bill making it’s way through the legislative process. Recreational marijuana may be back on the ballot in 2026.
