
The SWAT team arrested a man in Vero Beach yesterday. There were reports of guns being fired into a youth camp, and officers saw tracer rounds crossing the road when they arrived. The man was also found with two snakes in his house that were noteworthy, which were a black mamba and a cobra.

This reads like a soap opera, but I assure you it’s real. The son of an Indian River County Commissioner was arrested for stalking his ex while on patrol as a sheriff’s deputy. He allegedly used law enforcement technology to enhance his stalking.
If you recall, there has been quite the kerfuffle about the budget for the IRC Sheriff’s Department and that battle has been between the Sheriff and the County Commissioners. As far as we know, there is no connection between the arrest and the budget battle.

Several agencies are working hard to find a missing man in Vero Beach. The man is Donald Keaton, 86 years-old, about 5’9” and 150 pounds. He was last seen at Encore Sunshine Travel campground and suffers from dementia and Parkinson’s. Anyone with information about Donald Keaton should dial 911.

Sebastian has made it onto a list of one of the most economical places to retire in the Southern states. The calculation was based on the median rent for homes in the cities on the list and doesn’t take into account other things like insurance, food, etc. So take it with a grain of salt. Sebastian is indeed a lovely place in any case!

Ron DeSantis has been quite active on social media lately. His activity yesterday was focused on dispelling myths about the idea of eliminating property taxes for homesteads in Florida. As he rightly pointed out, there was a very strange and coordinated attack with a bunch of mouthpieces parroting the same objections to eliminating property taxes in Florida.

Brightline has been great for many people, and it continues to rack up fatal accidents as it speeds through the downtowns of coastal cities. Sadly, this is a time of year when suicides increase across the board, and more than a few of the Brightline deaths have been suicides.
