Our friends just north of us in Cape Canaveral are taking steps to prepare for a tsunami. While tsunamis are rare, they are always a risk in coastal areas worldwide. With the recent talk of the Russians developing a tsunami nuclear weapon, perhaps it’s something Indian River County should consider as well. The Russian weapons are designed to be detonated off the coast of a country in order to destroy the coastal cities with both force and toxic nuclear water.
With JetBlue now running regular flights to and from Vero Beach airport, some travelers have found a flaw in the system. One passenger reported being stranded in New York as the single remaining JetBlue flight for the day was cancelled. There were no alternative flights available, so she had nowhere to go except the airport lounge.
Nowhere in Florida is completely immune to sinkholes. Due to the composition of our ground, they can appear at any time without warning. One local city is particularly vulnerable to sinkholes.
Property taxes are going to be on the ballot next November. Floridians get to decide whether or not to keep them, or eliminate them. It should be an interesting experience however it goes.
